School Description

The MSU Crop Diagnostic School offers you an opportunity to hone your field decision making and problem solving skills as you interact with MSU Extension Specialists in small groups whole participating in hands-on  field activities.

 

School Details

  • This one-day event is open to everyone involved in production agriculture.
  • The program will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the Saginaw Valley Research and Extension Center- Frankenmuth, MI.
  • Registration is at 8:30 am with the program being held from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm.
  • Approval is pending for Pesticide Applicator credits and Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) CEUs.

  • Insect Problem Diagnosis- Dr. Chris DiFonzo
  • What's New with Nitrogen?- Dr. Kurt Steinke
  • Dry Bean Plant Types- Dr. Jim Kelly and Greg Varner
  • Herbicide Issues- Dr. Christy Sprague
  • Crop Staging- Dan Rossman
  • Sugarbeet Pathology: What spot is on my beet?- Dr. Linda Hanson
  • Nematode Central: Live (Growers are encouraged to bring soil samples for participation in the Cyst Nematode Sample Program)- Dr. George Bird
  • Soybean and Dry Bean Disease Identification and Management- Dr. Martin Chilvers

Registration Details

  • The cost is $100 per person and includes lunch, handouts, instructional materials, and giveaways.
  • Register by mail or online (by clicking the button below) by July 26 to reserve your space. Pre-registration is required.

Location

The diagnostic school will be held at the Saginaw Valley Research and Extension Center (3775 South Reese Road, Frankenmuth, MI 48734).  Located 1 mile West of Richville on M-46 and 1/2 mile South on Reese Road.
